MY THOUGHTS
I loved it, hated it, but mostly loved it. The characters' decisions took me on a wild ride, with unnecessary drama and frustrating miscommunications. Yet, it's action-packed, with characters full of personality, love, laughs, and so much more that you actually feel what they are going through. I'm hooked.
Darcy and Orion have been through so much together, and their care for each other is so beautiful. I'm eager to witness their relationship continue to blossom, and I want them to catch a break for once.
Tory Vega took the crown as the most frustrating character in this book. My frustration with her lingered, especially towards the end. I don't think she made one good decision, and I understand it's part of her character arc. Still, I can't help but feel she acted impulsively without considering the consequences thoroughly. She was overly angry, and I wanted to see more depth and growth from her character.
Tory and Darius's relationship is a rollercoaster of hot and cold. When you think things are stable, they shatter, and when you expect them to clash, they end up entangled most passionately. Surprisingly, I find myself on Team Darius. Not only was he decent, but he also allowed himself to be vulnerable at times. Meanwhile, Tory's behavior has left me feeling frustrated.
Caleb is one of my favorites, but he can't figure out what he wants from Tory, so they are far from endgame and have no long-term romantic future.
Seth seriously needs to sort out his life. While glimpses of his regrets evoke sympathy, his actions tell a different story. It's clear he's making an effort, but it feels like he could push himself harder.
Oh, and hold up—are we on the brink of a Caleb and Seth romance? The plot thickens!
Max finally developed a personality, and it's a delightful surprise! Now that we get more insight into his point of view, he is downright hilarious. He's genuinely clueless about 90% of what's happening, attempting to decipher emotions to make sense of the chaos, and his confused commentary is just pure gold.
Geraldine's peculiar humor and unwavering dedication to the twins and their mission made me appreciate her even more. While I've liked her in the past, this book has truly made me love her character.
Gabriel Nox, the new tarot teacher, Orion's old friend, and Nebular Ally, captured my heart. The instant warmth shared between Gabriel and the twins is a nice change of pace. Will there be more to their relationship there - potential nebular allies? He is clearly a sweetheart while also a badass.
The snowball fight among Tory, Darcy, Orion, Darius, Seth, Max, Caleb, and Xavier is one of the series' absolute highlights. Imagine if they could all unite, see the bigger picture, and collaborate to combat the greater evil – they would be an unstoppable force. The friendship in that snowball fight was pure magic!
The book ends with powerful emotion and the plea, "I need help!"
